The city of San Francisco is attempting to outlaw the Yellow Pages. Their Board of Supervisors is expected to vote in favor of a ban against unrequested home and business delivery of the directories. There will no doubt be lawsuits over this legislation which is probably unconstitutional.
Nearly two million directories are delivered in San Francisco every year. City officials claim the directories clog recycling equipment and cause expensive repairs. Where else but in the City by the Bay would they try to protect the environment, fight neighborhood blight and help the economy by preventing businesses from advertising?
