Another government attack on free enterprise

The city of San Francisco is attempting to outlaw the Yellow Pages. Their Board of Supervisors is expected to vote in favor of a ban against unrequested home and business delivery of the directories. There will no doubt be lawsuits over this legislation which is probably unconstitutional.

Nearly two million directories are delivered in San Francisco every year. City officials claim the directories clog recycling equipment and cause expensive repairs. Where else but in the City by the Bay would they try to protect the environment, fight neighborhood blight and help the economy by preventing businesses from advertising?

Stay alert Madison Avenue. You may be next.

Attention carpet retailers

The downturn in housing sales and jump in repossessions have hurt carpet retailers. The good news for cleaners is that people are cleaning rather than replacing carpet along with their hardwood, tile and stone floors. Many retailers are looking into these services as a diversification to offset slow flooring sales. I know some very successful retailers who have cleaning operations, but I know some who have failed, too.

A carpet retailer should take a hard look before plunging into cleaning. Advantages are office personnel, phones, insurance, advertising and overhead expenses are already allocated and a ready-made customer base is available. A cleaning technician there when new floor covering is being considered is invaluable. Perhaps the most significant benefit is that it keeps a competitor out of a customer's home or office.

But, a majority of carpet retailers don't want to be in the cleaning business and they shouldn't be. For those who don't, there is a network of professional cleaners who will work for you in a mutually agreeable arrangement. For honest answers about being in the cleaning business or to be connected with a reliable professional cleaning service that will work for you, call 800 428 9512. There is absolutely no obligation.

Fifth of a nine-part series about the CFR

The Council on Foreign Relation in my opinion is behind the move to destroy our economy as we know it and lower American living standards closer to the level of third world countries. Nothing expresses the goals of their globalist conspiracy like quotes from prominent CFR members and others who know the organization.

"... the powers of financial capitalism had another far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences."

Dr. Carroll Quigley, CFR member and author of "Tragedy and Hope,"

Quigley says the two party system allows both Democrats and Republicans to be controlled at top levels while appearing to be bitter rivals. He wrote, "This gives voters a chance to throw the rascals out at elections without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy." It's a big show that provides fodder and abundant profit for the media.

The price of gasoline

Most of us think the price of gasoline is artificially high and politicians say oil companies are gouging the public. Actually oil companies are more efficient and prices are really lower than they were sixty years ago. The price of oil is ruled by the value of the dollar. In 1951 three dimes would buy a gallon of gasoline and you'd get some change, too.

Today, just two of those dimes (minted prior to 1964) will buy a gallon of gasoline and you'll still get some change. The silver in those old coins shines a harsh spotlight on the declining value of our ever-shrinking dollar. The Federal Reserve's money printing binge is the reason, but politicians want to blame oil companies for the problem they created.

Extended warranties questioned

Nearly everything we buy today comes with a sales pitch to buy an extended warranty. The practice has even invaded the cleaning industry with programs for spot removal, carpet protector and traffic lane maintenance. Several national publications recently cast doubt on the value of extended warranties.

The articles warn of harsh upselling tactics used by salespeople and declare that consumers are better off taking a chance on the regular warranty. A repair or service under the extended plan usually costs about the same as the cost of the additional warranty and generally warranties are invoked before they expire.

It's nice to see writers of national renown beginning to opine on the subject. Extended warranties have never been offered in our own service company in Indianapolis. I'm very pleased that I've never written about offering extended warranties in the cleaning industry or suggested that students in our school use them.

Fourth of a nine-part series about the CFR

The Council on Foreign Relation in my opinion is behind the move to destroy our economy as we know it and lower American living standards closer to the level of third world countries. Nothing expresses the goals of their globalist conspiracy like quotes from prominent CFR members and others who know the organization.

Here's that guy again, and this quote is frightening: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up to date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities."

Zbigniew Brzezinski, CFR member and founding member of the Trilateral Commission, and National Security Advisor to five presidents

CFR is rarely, if ever, mentioned by the media making it difficult to gauge its influence. When it is mentioned it is usually treated as trivial or irrelevant. CFR publishes "Foreign Affairs" magazine which is a subtle guidebook for their agenda. CFR is truly a shadow government with indirect influence in every spectrum of politics and finance.

CFR, established in the 1920's, is headquartered in New York City. Membership includes politicians and business elite, including heads of academia and the media. They centralize political power and market power to initiate legislation outside the checks and balances set up by our founding fathers. Better wake up before it's too late!

591,919* accesses to this web site in April.

Besides those looking for information about cleaning, cleaners ordered supplies, visited our Catalog, MSDS, Spot removal guides, Troubleshooting charts, Cleaning Digest and Clene-Times®. Many of you visited my BLOG. A special thanks to all who send e-mails about the BLOG. The e-mails let me know your opinions and are really appreciated!

But, here's the really exciting news. Most visitors to this web site were CONSUMERS. We know this because when they can't find a local cleaner in our referral directory, they call our toll free number. Nearly all of the phone inquiries were referred to near-by Bane-Clene® operators who for some reason are not listed on our directory.

You may link to this advertising bargain of the century for a one time fee of only $99. By having a link you'll be called directly by the consumer. That will help us save expensive WATTS line cost and the time we spend answering calls and looking up the nearest Bane-Clene operator. Thanks for your help.

*Total accesses to this web site in 2010 were 7,662,953 - 6,803,494 in 2005 - 3,735,610 in 2003 - 417,621 in 2001 - 71,645 in 1999 - 7,914 in 1997 - only 823 in 1995.
These increases every year illustrate the dramatic growth of internet usage.

We won't live to see another year like this

Besides the political turmoil, crazy weather last winter, terrible storms this spring, earthquakes and tsunamis, 2011 is a very rare year indeed.

To begin with, it has four very unusual dates: 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11. October will have 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Saturdays. This happens only once every 823 years.

Another unusual aspect is that if you take the last two digits of the year you were born and add the age you will be this year, the result will be 111.

Third of a nine-part series about the CFR

The Council on Foreign Relation in my opinion is behind the move to destroy our economy as we know it and lower American living standards closer to the level of third world countries. Nothing expresses the goals of their globalist conspiracy like quotes from prominent CFR members and others who know the organization.

This quote is shocking: "In the economic technological field, international cooperation has already been achieved, but further progress will require greater American sacrifices. More intensive efforts to shape a new world monetary structure will have to be undertaken, with some consequent risk to the present relatively favorable American position."

Zbigniew Brzezinski, CFR member and founding member of the Trilateral Commission, and National Security Advisor to five presidents.

CFR is dedicated to interventionism and consolidated global governance. They influence policy through the reach of members and publications. Only individuals who subscribe to CFR ideology and bring an element of capital (political status, business influence and/or money) to the group are granted membership to this elitist organization.

More testing?

Doesn't it make you feel good that the EPA, as part of its tribute to Earth Day, announced the approval of more than 2,500 products in its "Design for the Environment" (DfE) safe product labeling program? EPA will be approving cleaning products, too, and will require manufacturers with products bearing the DfE logo to disclose their ingredients.

I can't get too excited about that. Shortly after we were required to submit the chemical ingredients of our products for testing in the CRI/ SOA program, two big carpet mills (who run the CRI) came out with "new" formulas for cleaning compounds and spot removers that they sell through carpet retail stores. How about that for a coincidence?

Why does EPA even get involved in our industry since Consumer Reports and the CRI/SOA program have already tested much of our stuff? Doesn't the EPA trust them? Why do we need the CRI/SOA program if EPA is going to test our products? Pretty soon there will be more "bureaucrats"* wanting our money than there are products to test.

* Whether involved in industry or government, "bureaucrats" are essentially the same. They command big salaries, staff, and expense account, sustain sizable overhead cost and manage a never-ending campaign to ensure their own job security.

Second of a nine-part series about the CFR

The Council on Foreign Relation in my opinion is behind the move to destroy our economy as we know it and lower American living standards closer to the level of third world countries. Nothing expresses the goals of their globalist conspiracy like quotes from prominent CFR members and others who know the organization.

"The Council on Foreign Relations is the American branch of a society which originated in England ... [and] ... believes national boundaries should be obliterated and one world rule established."
Dr. Carroll Quigley, CFR member, college mentor of President Clinton, author of "Tragedy and Hope"

The CFR's membership includes large corporate members such as Halliburton of Dubai, British Petroleum, Dutch Royal Shell, Exxon Mobile, General Electric, NBC, Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Merck Pharmaceuticals, News Corp, Bloomberg, IBM, Time Warner, JP Morgan/Chase Manhattan and many other major financial institutions. All subscribe to the handbook of the elite, "Foreign Affairs," which is published monthly by the CFR.

And here's one for you Viet Nam vets: "There have been books purporting to explain the "real" reason for what happened to us in Viet Nam. Unfortunately, most of these have been part of the same old smoke screen from the actual architects of the war. Our veterans deserve more than memorials - they deserve the truth. Here is a book (The Shadows of Power, by James Perloff) where they can find it." Andrew Gatsis, General, USA (Ret.)

"Class Marketing 101"

The mantra of most marketing people today is “Lock ‘em in!” and "Make ‘em work for it!” When we buy something at an appliance store for example, we have to do something extra in order to get the discount, rebate, warranty or free delivery we were promised. They make us answer marketing questions and we have to send a certificate or proof of purchase.

"Join a club" is the chant of airlines, hotels, car rentals and vendors of all kinds. Platinum, gold, silver and bronze memberships are treated differently. The level of membership for which we qualify determines the price we pay and how we’re treated. This is a perfect example of “Class Marketing.” Even CRI has four levels in the SOA program.

At Bane-Clene® we only have one class of customer. You don’t have to belong to a club or do anything extra to be treated well. There's no premium membership required to access all of the valuable information on our web site. It's old fashioned, but our customer is the only BOSS we have and we're going to do everything we can to make you happy.

Boycott boosts rug sales

The western world is troubled by Iran developing nuclear bombs along with the rockets to deliver them. The UN has issued its usual meaningless warnings and some member-nations have pledged to boycott Iranian products. Meanwhile, Iran just had its best year, exporting $556 million in rugs, up 12 percent from the prior year. So much for the boycott!

Those crying the loudest about Iran getting into the bomb business are also the largest importers of their rugs. Included are the United States, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Japan. If they were serious about boycotting Iranian products, you'd think they would stop buying all those rugs, wouldn't you?
