FRUSTRATION

Do you work for someone who frustrates you? Instead of telling you what to do or what they want directly, they beat around the bush or worse yet give you no ideas or path.

If you act on your own and it turns out the way they wanted then all is good. If not then they criticize you and say you should not have gone on without their input.

Some managers have assorted reasons for not directly delegating responsibility to others. They may think the person is not ready. They may fear, if the person is successful it may erode their own position in the company. Many managers live their careers cautiously, they avoid risks and hold tightly the strings of authority.

If you are frustrated with your manager, politely let them know that you would appreciate more input on what they want from you. Let them know that you are more than capable of being responsible for the task they want accomplished. Assure them if you have any questions or require their further advice or instruction you will ask for it.

These simple tactics will not only avoid frustration for yourself but more than likely for them.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

In our Blog #311 on January 14, we extolled the importance of Friends.

Friends are important and vital. However, one needs to be able to Take Care of Yourself.

Our country consists of millions of families and friends. We work in thousands of different industries and occupations. Many families and friends live thousands of miles from each other. While they support each other as much as possible, ultimately you must rely on what you are able to produce.

With this in mind, you would expect that most people would be trying to produce more not less. In reality, that is not always true. People have become so confused by arguments over who is entitled to what that the big picture has become obscured.

Many workers over the years have cut back. Not only in the time they work but in how hard they are willing to work. Many want more things and more money for doing less and less.

While many have been grabbing for a bigger piece of the pie, the pie is not expanding fast enough. The best way to increase the size of everybody’s share and ultimately a bigger pie is logical.

If everyone works harder, then the pie will increase and everyone will have more.

FRIENDS

Image of friends

What is the description of friends?

Friends are people with whom you feel comfortable being yourself. They don’t ask you to pretend to be someone else or be better than your are. When you are with them, you are relaxed and easy going.

You can be frank and up front in your conversations. Although care should always be taken to not offend or abuse them. You can share personal thoughts and desires. They understand your occasional off the wall comments or if you are silent.

After all they are your friends.

PERSPECTIVE

When interacting with people, it is important to remember and realize the fact that everyone does not view things from the same perspective as you might.

Understanding someone’s viewpoint is the first step to effective and meaningful communication. Unfortunately in today’s world, the perspective of others is more too often overlooked and dismissed. Everyone should strive to reach middle ground on issues and or perceived differences of opinion.

Time and initiative should be taken to respect the perspective of others.
