ENERGETIC PEOPLE

High energy in the job

Are you energetic or are you bored? Energetic people are seldom bored. Boredom will sap your energy. Bored people lack creativity and drive. Boredom will make you unproductive and lackadaisical. It may cost you money or even the loss of friends and or family. So what should you do? Here are but a few ideas.

Make a “to do” list and challenge yourself to complete the list before the end of the day. Presuming you do, be sure to reward yourself. If you don’t, find out why. Was the list too long? Did you waste time during the day? Did you get distracted with other tasks not on the list? Whatever the reason or reasons, strive to correct them.

If you have tasks that you do everyday, vary the order in which you do them. This will make them less boring and give you a spark of energy.

Besides a list of everyday or normal tasks, always have one big task to accomplish each day. Finishing that task will certainly give you a huge jolt of energy. Consider doing the big task first and the energy you derive from accomplishing it will carry you through the rest of the day.

Even though you worked hard and efficiently, unforeseen events happen. Therefore, earmark one day each week as catch up day. That will enable you to tie up any loose ends.

Energetic people are happy and productive. They accomplish more in a day than a bored person will accomplish in a week.

MEMORIAL DAY MAY 25, 2020

Before we reflect on the history and meaning of Memorial Day, let us take time to remember all those who have died due to the pandemic that has swept our country. Without the leadership, courage, dedication and sacrifices of many the number of deaths would have been far greater.

The custom of honoring those who have fallen in battle by cleaning and decorating graves is an ancient and worldwide tradition. It was originally called “Decoration Day”.

In early rural America, this duty was usually done in late summer and became an occasion for family reunions. After the “Civil War”, the practice became more prominent as America’s need for a patriotic ceremony to honor its military dead. After “WW I”, the day was expanded to honor those who had died in all American Wars. The tradition of wearing red Poppies as a symbol of this day was actually the idea of an American, Miss Moina Michael, who became known as the “Poppy Lady”.

The holiday, which is now observed on the last Monday of May, was originally observed on May 30th. It is considered the unofficial start of Summer. One of the longest standing traditions is the running of “The Indianapolis 500”, which has been held in conjunction with Memorial Day since 1911. Due to the pandemic, it is now scheduled to be run August 23, 2020.

The preferred name for the holiday gradually changed from “Decoration Day” to “Memorial Day”, first used in 1882. However, it only became the most common name after “WW II” and was not declared a Federal Holiday until 1967. While the passing of an act in 1968 created 3 day weekends for Memorial Day and other holidays, it has also no doubt contributed to a general nonchalant observance by some people for this important day.

We at Bane-Clene® do not take that nonchalant attitude. We realize that our great country is just that because of the dedication and countless sacrifices of the men and women who have fought and died to keep us,

The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

As our country works to regain a semblance of economic normalcy, what can we do in the meantime?

Social distancing has changed the way business is done and may continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Face to face meetings with prospects or clients will continue to be limited, if even allowed at all. There are tools available such as Zoom or Face-Time, where you meet with someone without obviously physically visiting them. Presentations like this can actually be more difficult and challenging than a face to face meeting. Normally you may use “show and tell”, charts, graphs and or literature to support your presentation. These and other “support” materials are rendered less useful especially if your presentation is being done and received over a hand held device or Lap Top.

So what do you do? There is an old adage that “Practice Makes Perfect”. But what happens if your “Practice is not Perfect”? Then your practice is all for naught. Your presentation should be honed by “perfect practicing”. Work on it with family members or associates. Record your presentation and watch it, all the while tweaking it where necessary.

As our country moves forward and recovers there is going to be a tremendous pent up demand for many types of services and products. Be ready to meet that demand.

Perfect Practice Makes Perfect.

ADVICE

There are two types of advice solicited and unsolicited. People solicit advice for a variety of reasons. Some ask to find someone who will just agree with them, right or wrong. Some ask because they are unsure of what they want to do or accomplish and are therefore truly looking for advice.

In either situation, all you can do is offer your honest opinion. When you can, always advise people to do what you see they really want to do. Unless, what they want to do is against the law, socially stupid or will be impossible to achieve.

Doing what they want to do will give them the most chance for success. Doing what they don’t want to do is a recipe for failure.

The other type of advice is unsolicited. This usually comes from a person who generally thinks they are smarter than everyone else and therefore will offer their advice and opinions to anyone who will listen. They are the type of person, who if you are having a conversation with a friend, colleague, etc will interrupt. Usually, their first sentence is something like this “let me tell you what I would do”.

If you will allow us, let us to offer you some advice. If you truly want it, ask for it. If someone starts offering it and you don’t want it, quickly remove yourself from the conversation.

May / June Clene-Times® Now Available

The May/June Clene-Times is now available on our web site at www.baneclene.com/content/uploads/pubs/2020-MayJun.pdf.

The first article on page 1 is titled “Be Safe and Stay Healthy” primarily emphasizing that we are open for business and that we are continuing to follow proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting work areas as we continue to deliver the products and services you require.

The second article on page 1 is titled “Will Cleaning Carpet Remove Coronavirus (COVID-19)?”. Proper truck-mount extraction cleaning carpet will help remove bacteria and viruses. The article includes excerpts from articles by Harvard University and from the World Health Organization regarding persistence of the COVID-19 virus on surfaces and their removal. The article also gives information on MediClean® Germicidal Cleaner Concentrate QGC and Sporicidin® Disinfectant Solution, EPA registration both of which are on the EPA “List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2”. List N includes products that meet EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19. Bane-Clene also distributes two other disinfectants that are not on the List N: Steri-Fab® Disinfectant, Insecticide, Deodorizer, Mildewcide and MediClean® Disinfectant Spray.

MediClean QGC, a quaternary ammonium disinfectant, can be used at 2-4 ounces per gallon as a prespray on carpet, allowed to remain on the carpet for 10 minutes followed by extraction. QGC can also be used to control COVID-19 on hard surfaces. Of course, using QGC will void nylon stain-resist warranty, but getting rid of the virus is more important!

Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution, a phenolic disinfectant, can be applied to carpets undiluted using a pressure sprayer before extraction. Prespray the carpet with Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution undiluted and brush into the carpet. Allow the carpet to remain damp for 5 minutes to be effective against Human Coronavirus before extracting. Sporicidin is not cationic or a quat and will not void nylon carpet stain-resist warranties. Sporicidin can also be used to control COVID-19 on hard surfaces.

Steri-Fab is the ONLY EPA registered disinfectant and insecticide in one product. Steri-Fab is THE disinfectant/insecticide that kills lice, dust mites, bed bugs, roaches, fleas and a host of other insects. Steri-Fab offers 11-way protection against insects, germs, and odors: Virucide, bactericide, sanitizer, fungicide, insecticide, deodorant, germicide, disinfectant, mildewcide.

MediClean Disinfectant Spray (formerly Microban®) is a Disinfectant, Mildewcide, Bacteriostat, Fungistat, Deodorizer, Anti-Microbial, Deodorizer and Mold Control product. Mediclean Disinfectant Spray offers protection against mold, mildew, bacteria, fungi and viruses that cause illness and threaten our health and well-being as well as destroy materials and cause unpleasant odors.

On page 2, we introduce the new product Clean Hands Hygienic Spray Sanitizer. This spray contains 70% alcohol which exceeds the CDC’s recommendation for a hand sanitizer. This is not a replacement for hand washing but is used to improve hygiene in between washings. The CDC specifically recommends putting Hand Sanitizer on your hands, thoroughly covering them and then rubbing them together until they are dry, which will likely take 20 seconds.

The Clene-Times issue also contains announcements, special offers on accessories and chemical supplies and information on new and used carpet cleaning equipment.

BE SAFE and STAY HEALTHY

Be Healthy During This Pandemic
We all are navigating this time of uncertainty and unparalleled living experiences. Many have experienced the wrath of this virus first hand. Others have only read about it.
We salute the police officers, first responders, hospital staffs, medical personnel and other professionals who are on the front lines of this battle.
Where would we be without the clerks, staff, stockers, warehouse workers and all others who are keeping foods, medicines and the basics of our every day lives flowing and on the shelves? Although, we admit it is hard to find toilet tissue at times.
We at Bane-Clene® are working to provide the necessary chemicals and disinfectants to help kill this virus on the many surfaces all of us come in contact with everyday.
As with many of the basics of lives, these products are in short supply and even the raw materials to produce them are affected. We will continue to do our best to provide them in a timely fashion.
Please stay positive and adhere to any social distancing guidelines in your area.
BE SAFE and STAY HEALTHY !!
