PEDESTAL

Putting people on a pedestal has the connotation of putting them above you.

However, you can use pedestal words or phrases that will endear them to you. While possibly not making you their equal, they will raise your stature.

Here are a few examples:

  • May I? Asking permission implies authority.
  • As you probably know. Implies knowledge.
  • I’d like your advise. Implies you respect their opinion.
  • You’re right. Is a complimentary comment.
  • Do you have a moment? Implies you know they are busy.
  • Please. The ultimate word when establishing a relationship.

Ultimately smart people use pedestal words and or phrases.
